For Nick Roman, life has always been about one thing, destroying mediocrity.  As a standout for GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio Nick earned 2nd team All-Ohio as a linebacker on the state ranked Golden Eagle football team.  However, football was not the only sport that Nick excelled in.  He was a standout catcher on the baseball team and finished second in the OHSAA State wrestling tournament as 215 pound senior.  From High School, Nick accepted a scholarship to play football for Walsh University and that is when his conflict began.  The gritty fortitude that weight training required consumed Nick more than any thing he had ever been a part of and after just two seasons, Nick chose to step away from the gridiron to concentrate on his new found passion...Powerlifting.
In his first sanctioned action, the IPA Iron House Open, Nick nailed a 705 squat, hit a 455 bench press and then pulled an incredible 755 pound Junior World Record on his second deadlift attempt. Two lifts later, on a granted 4th attempt, Nick destroyed the unthinkable nailing an 800 pound deadlift becoming one of the biggest junior deadlifters of all-time. In October of 2009, Nick posted an IPA Junior World Record with a 2300 pound total which included a 900 squat, a 625 bench press and a 775 deadlift. In only a few short years, Nick has claimed 5 IPA World Records and has made his presence felt on the platform. He also has earned the title of the first ever Elite ranked full meet powerlifter in ICG history. The future holds nothing but continued success for Nick as he plans to wreak havoc on the record books.
